"Since calling the Rev. Nathan Detering in the fall of 2003, the Unitarian Universalist Area Church at First Parish in Sherborn has experienced steady and consistent growth in membership and attendance in both Sunday worship and Religious Education classes. From 2002 to 2005 attendance at worship services increased 47%, participation in R.E. classes increased 150%, and budget expenditures increased 86%. These growth trends have continued, causing additional strain on the staff, lay and Ministerial leadership, and budget funding. Additionally, serious overcrowding in RE classrooms and Unity Hall, and increased attendance in the sanctuary during Sunday worship is discouraging full participation by current members. There is also concern that crowding may be intimidating to visitors." . . .
